As the water softly see-saws this boat
my heart also is swaying
trying to take in all thats here
yet trying to find something to give back,

looking out into the unending blanket of blue
and watching the waves softly lap the shore
i feel my soul longing
longing for something so close yet so far away

as the wind blows through the trees
acting as their hand to paint portraits
of themselves on the water that gently goes by
it serenades my mind

a fushia haze settles here
silence slowly sinks into the earth around me
a dog quiets in the distance
as i listen to the stories of the whispering waves

though all around me seems still
my soul is yet stirred, unsettled, unsure
nature makes peace seem so effortless
but this pure and beautiful rest refuses to rest on me

for the first time my senses are truley open
everything around me has a way of making open peace

one day i will find my own.
one day i will have a free spirit like nature
one day i will find what this world seems to keep from me.
but right now,
